I just got our review for Summer on Earth on Booklist. Booklist is “a book-review magazine that has been published by the American Library Association for more than 100 years, and is widely viewed as offering the most reliable reviews to help libraries decide what to buy and to help library patrons and students decide what to read, view, or listen to. It comprises two print magazines, an extensive website and database, e-newsletters, webinars, and other resources that support librarians in collection development and readers’ advisory.”
This is a subscription service used by librarians, bookstores and people in the publishing industry. The review just came out and is now behind the subscription wall, and is exclusive for the first few weeks. But I did get a look at it, and it is a great review. I can’t post the full review yet, but here is an excerpt:
Readers will delight at Ralwil’s perspective on earthly life as he and the Johnsons share a summer. The ingenious farmhand tries mightily to help the struggling family keep the farm, even inventing a money tree. Grady’s bond with the unexpected guest fosters a new level of responsibility and compassion in the teen. The unique, fablelike story with gentle charm and strongly drawn characters—human and otherwise—will satisfy with its quiet aura of resilience and hopefulness.
Summer on Earth will be released on August 1st, less than a week away. It will be available online, and anywhere hardcover books are sold.
I will be having a Book Signing / Book Release Part at Andersons’s Books at 123 Jefferson Street in Downtown Naperville at 2:00 on August 13th. If you are in the Chicago area and have a chance to stop by, I’d love to see you there. If you can make it, pre-ordering the book to make sure we have enough is appreciated.
